It's me again! I wake up in the middle of the night with visions of reunion running through my head.. ...did I tell everyone to be sure to bring your checkbooks? This is for ordering the Reunion DVD and CD. We don't do debit/credit cards and would prefer not to handle any cash transactions. Plus the BHSAA (Bossier High School Alumni Association) will be there to recruit new members. This is a GREAT organization that does a lot of positive things for our Alma Mater. They'll have the information and a rep there Sat. at our registration area.

Might as well tell you, I AM PUMPED! This is happening in 2 more days....Wednesday....Thursday....Friday...BOOM and SATURDAY....BIG BADDA BOOM!!!!
So.....be sure to wash your teeth, brush your butt, bring clean undies...bring all your medications, pee before you go and SAFE JOURNEY...even if you are local. I want all my Kats to arrive alive without any welcome ticket from the Welcome Wagons that travel around with light bars on their roofs.

Hey Bearkats! We're on GO and we ARE the Seniors of SEVEN O!!!!


LAST committee meeting was held this past Saturday. We ARE SOOOOO excited about this. Here is the agenda for Friday and Saturday. I hope this is the last website letter to be published before the event, but one never knows, does one?

Try to park on the 3rd level of the parking garage (free parking) and walk across the "skybridge"...when you clear the walkway, to the left is the registration area and the Arkansas Room (hospitality suite). We'll have balloons and signs up and you will NOT miss us.

If you valet park, come up the escalator and you will find us on the right.


FRIDAY, AUGUST 13

5:30 pm REGISTRATION - CASUAL ATTIRE

Location: Skybridge level (or up the escalator from the ground floor lobby) - ARKANSAS ROOM

We will be located at the desk in the lobby area by the Arkansas Room. You won't be able to miss us. Follow the green and white balloons. We will have a cash bar and snacks.

Optional group activities:

The Funny Bone Comedy Club (The Boardwalk) featuring TOM ARNOLD
$15 per person, show times 8 and 10:30 If you want to go ahead and reserve your tickets, call 318.549.0829. The late show is the one we'll most likely make. The early show is at 8pm and we'll still be mingling then. Please let me know if you DO get reserved tickets...the guy at the FB is going to hold us some tables, so I'll need a head count.

El Dorado Casino (right up the street) featuring Video Stars in their Celebrity Lounge 9p - 1:30 a.

or hang out and visit in our hospitality suite from 6-10p.

We hope the shuttle will be available for a small fee...if not, there are taxis and you can group up if you don't want to drive.

SATURDAY, AUGUST 14

You have a free day to pick and choose whatever you want to do during the day. The only scheduled event is the golf game. Please pray for COOLER weather!

Decorating Committee meets in the ballrooms @ 10 am

Saturday Golf Game @ Old Oakes Tee Time 8 am

Here are some suggestions:

Shuttle/taxi to The Boardwalk for shopping/eating (there will be a coupon book in your registration bag)

Shuttle/taxi to Louisiana Downs for horse racing

The Rose Spa at Sam's Town Casino offers massages, manicure/pedicures, facials, full body treatments. If you want to do any of these, call EARLY (like after you read this) to schedule. 318.424.5616

They also have a workout area, sauna, steam room, hot tub. You can use any of these free with a booked service (above) or an $8 charge without a booked service. Full spa treatment takes about 1.5 hours and the express takes about 45 minutes.


SATURDAY NIGHT - ATTIRE IS BUSINESS CASUAL/DRESSY/BUT BE COMFORTABLE...THIS IS NOT A BLACK TIE/FORMAL EVENT BUT WEAR SOMETHING YOU WOULD GO OUT TO EAT AT A NICE PLACE IN, YA KNOW? THERE IS ALWAYS SUCH A VARIETY THAT SHOWS UP. HAVE YOUR GLAD RAGS AND DANCING SHOES ON.

4:30 Tables open for registration on the same floor we have the Friday night deal. We will be in Ballrooms C & D.....again...follow the signs/balloons.

Cash bar opens at 5 pm
Buffet starts @ 6 pm
Program @ 7pm
Class Photo around 7:45'ish**
Band starts @ 8 pm ends @ 12 pm

** Dianna Smathers is our photographer and will be mingling among us. If you want a special shot taken, then let her know. She will have the spot picked out for our class photo (alumni only, please) so I'll announce that at the end of the program.

We will have order forms for the DVD of the class pictures and we will have order forms for the CD of pictures of that night in your registration bag. Please bring your checkbook and fill out your form and drop it along with your check to BEARKATS CLASS OF 1970 in the box that we will have set up @ registration. These will be mailed to you. You can write one check for both orders or whichever one you want and we'll handle the rest.

I feel like I'm leaving something out . I hope not. I'm getting the "confirmed" list updated tonight and it will show up tomorrow along with this letter.

I will say that if you have not paid to come and have not gotten a hotel room yet....pay the extra at the door ($25 per person) and good luck on the hotel. I think they are booked but you can always try. Let me know if you have any problems.

Hey 'Kats:

Some of ya'll are wondering if the party is still on and the answer is a resounding YES!

We have had a few challenges but have overcome them beautifully and the reunion is STILL happening....same dates....new location: Sam's Town Casino. I just asked Steve to send an updated letter to the website with a new phone number to call during the week days, 9-5, to make your hotel reservations. The instructions are in that newsletter (see next entry) but if you have any questions, please, please, please call me straight away and I'll clear up any confusion. My cell is 318.458.8679 and if you call during the day, I might have to let it go to voice mail as I'm working but I WILL call you back ASAP.

OK..gotta get ready for work, so ya'll have a great day and start packing your bags...it'll be here before you know it!

If you are trying to make your hotel reservations @ Sam's Town for the event, we have a DIFFERENT number for you to call. Some of you have experienced a little problem with the first number given for reservations and in order to avoid any further conflict, please call the Sales Office directly to make your reservations. Tell them you are with the Bossier High School Reunion and they are very familiar with us, so they will take care of the reservation. Room rate is still $129.00 + tax per night. You will need to give them credit card information and they will "hold" $50.00 out when you check in (for "incidentals") but this will be reversed at check out unless you order room service or charge anything to your room.

I'm sorry for any confusion that you may have experienced with this and PLEASE call me if you have any problems with any of this or anything else, of course.

VERY VERY IMPORTANT NEWS: PLEASE READ IMMEDIATELY!!!!

Just when you think things are going great...BAM! Outta the blue....you get hit. That's what happened to us folks...we got hit, but we have recovered beautifully!

Here's the latest: Due to circumstances OUT of our control, the contract with Diamond Jack's Casino has been can celled. We are now going to have our reunion celebration at Sam's Town Casino in Shreveport, LA. The dates are the same (August 13 and 14, 2010), the venue is the same, just the location has changed.

Those of you that have made your room reservations at Diamond Jack's need to call them and cancel them and then call Sam's Town Casino to make your reservation there. The room is $129.00 + tax per night, which is only $10 more per night than Diamond Jack's BUT the rooms are bigger and much nicer at Sam's Town. All of their accommodations are much nicer and we are happy that we were able to get a contract with them.

Here's the info to cancel and re-make your reservations:

If you have any problem with any of this, please let me know immediately. I am emailing to the individuals that I know have made reservations with DJ's just to make sure they get the information. We are still about $3000.00 away from the goal that we had set, so if you are reading this and have not sent your money in for the reunion, please do so right away. One of our classmates is not going to be able to attend but sent in a donation of $200.00! Isn't that awesome?? Even if you are coming and have paid and want to make a contribution, you can. I have been told it's tax deductible!

I'm surprised that only 3 people have responded to Roger Smithson with anecdotes/funny stories..etc. Put your memory to the test and get something sent in to him pronto-quicko, please.

Greetings to Bearkats Class of 1970

The reunion is 59 days away from today ( 06.15.10 ) WOW!!! GET READY!

To date, we have 50 people signed up (see the "CONFIRMED" list to see who has signed up and paid).

Our estimated cost for the reunion is $12,000.00 and right now we have close to $7,000.00 in the bank. We are SOOOOO close but we cannot make this happen without you and without your money.

Many of you have asked what the plans are, so here goes:

The Hospitality Suite will be open from 6 pm Friday, August 13th through 2 am, Sunday, August 15th. We will have cocktails, beverages and snacks here and this will be our starting point for Friday night

We are waiting for the casino to confirm who the entertainer is for Friday, August 13th and this will be announced at a future date. The other plan is to gather a group, head to The Boardwalk for The Funny Bone.

Saturday morning, (the BIG DAY) we will meet in the casino's buffet for breakfast. NOT MANDATORY but the Kats on Facebook are going to meet for breakfast and of course, you can come too even if you're NOT on Facebook.

The day activities are golf and shopping:

Golf: I'll post the tee time and location of the golf tournament in the next letter. Shopping: Arranging shuttle service through the hotel to The Boardwalk and it's a "do your own thing" thing.

Just be sure to be back at the hotel to rest up and get ready for the main event starting at 6 p.m. in the Emerald and Ruby Rooms.

Buffet style dinner, that way you can walk, talk and eat at the same time.

Program with Larry Ryan (guest speaker) will begin around 7 pm and then

EARSHOT GRAFFITI featuring our very own, Steve Boose, will begin at 8 pm.

Of course, it goes without saying, the BEST part of the whole shebang is meeting up with our old (and I mean that in a very GOOD way) friends.

Hey all you Bearkats of '70! We are making progress in locating ya'll! Facebook has been an AWESOME resource as well as Classmates.com. The word is getting out and even though we have found a lot of people, we still have a lot that we have no contact with yet. Please look at the "missing" link and scroll through to see if you know where any of these people are.

Here's some information for ya'll :
